Jewell Commssion Secreta Re: PacifiCorp Notice of Afliate Transaction Case No. P AC-E-05-8 Dear Ms. Jewell: Ths letter will serve as notice pursuat to Commtment I 17(2), incorporated in the Idaho Public Utilities Commssion Order No. 29973 issued Februar 13,200, as supplemented by Order No. 29998 March 14, 2006, in the above-referenced proceeding, approving the acquisition ofPacifiCorp by MidAerican Energy Holdings Company ("MEHC"), of an afliate interest traction. Rocky Mountan Power hereby submits an origial and 7 copies of an emailed quote from Perki Power for replacement pars to be shipped from the Company to MidAerican Energy Company (MC) and PacifiCorp. PacifiCorp is a wholly-owned subsidiar of MidAerican Energy Holdings Company (MHC). MEC is reguated investor- owned utilty company providing retal electrc and natu gas service in Iowa, South Dakota and Ilinois, and is also wholly-owned subsidiar of MEHC. Therefore, MEC is an afliate of PacifiCorp. A copy of the emailed quote is included as Attchment A. On Febru 1, 2011, durg a routine maintenance outage at the Company's Dave Johnton Plant, it was discovered that two oil coolers used to maita the atomizers for unt thee were daaged and needed repai before the unt could be brought back into service. The Company uses the atomizers as emissions control devices. Oil coolers are a critical component to the operation of the atomizers, without which PacifiCorp would be unable to meet ai quality reguations. The Company did not have in inventory the necessar pars to replace the daaged oil coolers and contacted several vendors to determne availabilty. None of the vendors held the oil coolers in stock, but could have them available in 12-15 days. The Company contacted MEC's Walter Scott plant in Council Bluff, Iowa regarding the oil cooler. MEC had two oil coolers available. To avoid a lengty and costly outage of the 220 megawatt unt, the Company accepted delivery via courer of two oil coolers from MEC. The Company was able to replace the oil cooler and ret Dave Johnton Unit 3 to serce withn 24 hour of the outage. Idao Public Utilties Commssion Febru 17,2011 Page 2 The Company will order five oil coolers from a vendor at $493 eah and will send two to MEC to replac those supplied for the repai to the Dave Johnston plant. The Company estimates that the outage, which lasted approximately 16.5 hour, at Dave Johnston unt thee cost $104,000. A 12-15 day outae would have cost signficantly more. Accepting replacement oil coolers from MEC served the public interest by ensurg that the Company repaired the Dave Johnston plant in a timely maner, by mizing costs associated with prolonged outages, and by ensurng the Company meets applicable air quality reguations.
