Ths lettr will serve as notice pursuat to Commtment I 17(2), incorporated in the
Idaho Public Utilties Commssion Order No. 29973 issued Februar 13,2006, as supplemented
by Order No. 29998 March 14, 2006, in the above-referenced proceeding, approving the
acquisition of PacifiCorp by MidAerican Energy Holdings Company ("MEHC"), of an afliate
interest tracion. Rocky Mounta Power hereby submits an original and 7 copies of the
Quote from Maron Utilty, LLC ("Maron Utility"), for the purchae of cert pin insulators
needed for constrcting, maitaning or repaig electrc distbution lines. A copy of the Quote
is included as Atthment A.
PacifiCorp is an indirct wholly-owned subsidiar of MidAerican Energy Holdings
Company. MEHC is a wholly-owned subsidiar of Berkshie Hathaway, Inc ("Berkhie").
Berkshire curently holds an approximate 64 percent interest in the Maron Group. The Maron
Group consists of approximately 130 companes, divided into eleven business sectors including
engineered wi and cable, industral products and building wi. Maron Utilty is a member of
the Maon Group. Therefore, Berkshi's ownership interest in the Maron Group creates an
afliated interest.
Maron Utilty manufactues electrcal distrbution cable, cable systems and accessories
for aerial and undergrund utility applications. Among the items manufactued by Maron
Utilty is a pin insulator that would be beneficial to maitaing the reliabilty of the Company's
distrbution system. PacifiCorp's stadards engineerig group researched these pin inulators as
a potential solution to an issue with covered jumpers tied to porcelai insulators eroding,
eventuly resultig in component failure. The porcelai inulators with had ties became
obsolete with the implementation of PacifiCorp's raptor policy. PacifiCorp's engieerig
stadads group determed the clamp top inulator manufaced by Maron Utilty would help
prevent component failures, should be used with all covered jumpers that require attchment to a
pole or crossar, and is consistent with PacifiCorp's raptor policy.

PacifiCorp intends to purchae these pin insulators for use in all six of its states and will hold a
cert amount in inventory. The Company anticipates it will spend less th $50,000 per year
for these pin inulators. Maron Utility is the only known manufactuer of ths product. One
other company indicated to PacifiCorp tht it is in the process of developing a similar product,
however no prototype is curently available for review. Based on ths evaluation, PacifiCorp
desires to purchase the pin insulators from Maron Utility as a reasonable solution to
matang the reliabilty of its distrbution system by reducing the probabilties of component
failurs.
