HomeMy WebLinkAbout20240311Comments_1.pdfIPC-E-23-23 Kenneth Winer kennethwiner46@gmail.com (208)229-6699 12876 N Schicks Ridge Rd,Boise,ID 83714 2/12/2024 I was very glad to see Idaho Power's recent Integrated Resource Plan include ending all coal use by 2030 and developing significant amounts of new clean energy resources like solar and wind.This is critical for our climate and our economy.As someone worried about the impacts of fossil fuels on our climate,air,water,and local communities,I was sad to see that Idaho Power plans to keep its coal plants running by simply burning a different fossil fuel—gas—in some cases for another two decades.Fossil gas produces extremely potent greenhouse gas emissions,requires very invasive and dangerous extraction processes,and is very economically risky for the utility and its customers.I urge you to direct Idaho Power to NOT invest in more fossil gas infrastructure and instead invest in 100%renewable energy and storage technologies as it looks to replace its coal power.
