Distributed energy system owners should be fairly compensated for the services they provide and programs should enable a local energy economy. - Customers of all types deserve programs that help make the right choice for their family’s energy use, ensuring pathways to universal access for all Idaho & Oregon residents to participate in energy production - Local clean energy systems provide grid security and reliability while protecting our climate and public lands from catastrophic events like wildfires - Solar programs provide countless, higher paying jobs for diverse groups of people. From administrative and electrical, inspectors, and utility employees alike. Please don't downsize jobs in Idaho and Oregon by decreasing the public interest in the growing solar industry by reducing their incentive for clean energy. -The source of solar energy—the sun—is nearly limitless and can be accessed anywhere on earth at one time or another. It would take around 10 million acres of land—or only 0.4% of the area of the United States—to allow enough space for solar photovoltaics (PV) to supply all of our nation’s electricity. Thank you" ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following comment was submitted via PUCWeb: Name: Linda Rytterager Submission Time: Oct 27 2023 1:33PM Email: LindaRytt@gmail.com Telephone: 208-921-5052 2 Address: 2006 Gourley St. Boise, ID 83705 Name of Utility Company: Idaho Power Case ID: IPC-E-23-14 Comment: "My husband and I have solar panels installed on our Boise residence. Like many homeowners, we are pleased to have the ability to generate our own power from a clean energy source and save money at the same time. We believe that Idaho Power should provide a fair rate for the electricity we generate that alleviates the load on their grid and helps provide a more reliable community-wide system, especially during the summer peak season. We're proud that the growth of local solar power is reducing costs for upgrading and maintaining power lines as well as improving system resiliency. As more homes go solar, Idaho Power and all its ratepayers are experiencing many quantitative benefits. More locally-produced solar energy reduces the need for Idaho Power to generate its own energy or purchase it on the open market. We should be encouraging more homeowners to install solar by making sure they are fairly compensated for their production. Please hold Idaho Power accountable to pay a fair rate to homeowners generating solar power that provides many benefits to our energy system and community, now and into the future." -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
