When I invested in solar panels, I was not made aware of the any proposed changes being considered by the Idaho Public Ulies. I was told my power bill would be $5 a month. Those of us that invested in solar power, which was recommended by Idaho Power, and was not informed of the proposed change, should be grandfathered in the current price and not have to pay the new billing system prices. Dear Public Ulies Commissioners, I am a roof top solar owner and power generator. My panels went up in 2017 so I have been “grandfathered” into a favorable rate structure unl now. I invested in solar because I felt that it was the right thing to do for the greater good. I am a middle income rered person. I am also old so I had not expected to “recoup” my investment in clean energy but I had hoped to maintain a fairly reasonable and affordable rate for the power that I return to the Idaho Power grid. And of course my panels face south as was recommended in 2017 because that captures the most sunlight for the greatest number of months per year. I feel that there are several issues confronng us at this me. 3 Solar compensaon rates are going to be reduced. This will discourage lower income families and businesses from invesng in solar. The hours of generaon that are fairly compensated factors into consideraon when figuring rates. This penalizes early solar investors like myself. Many factors were ignored and despite Idaho Power’s opinion about the importance of those factors, there is ample data to support the health costs of not going to clean power. The environmental costs are huge-climate change is real and is fueled(no pun intended) by burning fossil fuel. Long dangling above ground transmission line are extremely dangerous and cause fatal wildfires. Idaho Power’s rate structure informaon is very difficult to understand. Or were there just so many corporate employees working to build their plan that the informaon was not brought into a simple, understandable and predictable format? Has this been done intenonally? We need to have fewer opportunies for this corporate monopoly to change our rate structure. It is too unpredictable, me consuming and complicated to keep coming back to this every year or two! I understood that the Public Ulies Commission is supposed to protect cizens from unfair pracces by our power company. We really need protecon from unfair pracces because we have no other company to choose from. Please help us to achieve a simple, fair and predictable energy rate structure. Martha S.
