I disagree with Idaho Power's plans to install battery storage. The cost will outweigh the benefit. Idaho Power doesn't say exactly what the energy source will be to charge and recharge the batteries. If they are depending on solar or wind power then this is a risk as weather are unreliable sources. If they are depending on what they are already using to provide energy to homes, so what is the need? Remember what happened in Texas? Do we what that to happen here as well? This is not a good plan for Idahoans. I'm not sure how they can say that the battery storage will be clean energy considering what it's going to cost the land in securing all the materials to make the battery units. What do they think they are going to use to make the units? How long will these units last? What will be the disposal fee of batteries cost? What type of battery are they going to use? Lithium batteries are not only expensive, but they have been known to blow up, so what type of precautions will be put in place? This plan for battery storage isn't great for Idahoans who will end up paying the bill for this. Most of us can barely pay our bills as it is and certainly don't need an utility company to raises it's prices for a "wish list" item that's supposedly going to promote clean energy when in reality it's not.
