I feel that it is inappropriate and unfair to charge an entire county for the undergrounding of a line that directly benefits a privileged few. The entire premise of burying this line is not one of safety or reliability but is a matter of superficial aesthetics. This is nothing more than a transfer of wealth from working and retired persons on fixed incomes to wealthy landowners who believe that the entire county owes them an underground line but they feel that looking at lines supplying electricity to their neighbors is somehow beneath them. If this matters to those particular landowners, then let them raise the funds to make it happen. This is a burden that should not be borne by ratepayers more than 10 miles away in Carey, Picabo, Gannet, North Blaine, or any other portion of Blaine County outside of and not directly abutting the proposed new line. I urge denial of this absurd surcharge proposal. I thank the Commission for its consideration of these comments. Cordially, Nathan Harvill" ------ From:PUC Consumer Comments To:Jan Noriyuki Subject:Notice: A comment was submitted to PUCWeb Date:Saturday, September 4, 2021 10:00:08 AM The following comments were submitted via PUCWeb: Name: Roger Peck Submission Time: Sep 4 2021 9:26AMEmail: behappy@svskylan.net Telephone: 208-481-1413Address: 391 AUSTIN RD CAREY, ID 83320-5020 Name of Utility Company: Idaho Power Case ID: UPC-E-21-25 Comment: "The people of Southern Blaine County should not pay for something that will nothave any benefit for them. To pretend that partially burying a short section of the proposed power line will improve the view (or reliability) when there is already a power line, many signs, houses and hundreds of cars & trucks, is not accurate. Highways by their nature are obtrusive and I don't expect much in the way of serenity while traveling on a highway. This new line is supposed to be a redundant to the existing line that runs east of SH75 and over the mountains (WR/Elkhorn/Ketchum line). However, I have concerns that the proposed line will become the only line when IPCO decides it is too expensive to maintain or upgrade Wood River/Elkhorn/Ketchum line. Thanks for taking comments.
