It?s a matter of personal and communal safety as population grows and temperatures increase. Every customer?s right to meet their own energy needs must be protected, and made as affordable and accessible as possible. Please ensure that Idaho Power? s 'value of solar' study is accurate, objective, through, and fair, and evaluates the entire range of impact that clean, local, customer-owned power could have on our community. External oversight is critical to ensuring minimized bias and consumer protection from utility intimidation. Idaho residents are reeling under widespread priceincreases and inflation. We are sick of heavyhanded, stupid government/corporate policies at odds with our Liberty. Apart from the private solar industry we have almost no choice inwhere we get our power. Now Idaho Power wants us to pay not only for the power they supply to us, but for that which we supply to them? No. You should be insulted by the suggestion.Don't let them play you for fools. Please do not leave us defenseless. Please tell them no." ------ Name: Nicole Barnes Submission Time: Nov 12 2021 1:06AMEmail: nicolebarnes1@live.com Telephone: 208-703-5309Address: 8255 Ustick Rd Nampa, ID 83687 Name of Utility Company: Idaho Power Case ID: IPC-E-21-21 Comment: "Dear Idaho Public Utilities Commission, As a life long resident of the great state of Idaho I appreciate the opportunity to voice my concerns regarding the tariff that Idaho Power desires to put on personal solar power systems. As a publicly traded company I do not believe Idaho Power should have the right to ask you to penalize Idaho citizens, such as myself, for choosing to utilize an alternative power source; solar power. But, since they are asking for this tariff I am asking that you decline their request! This last summer we received the text messages, saw the news articles, and heard the verbal pleas from Idaho Power asking Idaho citizens to curb their power usage in an attempt to ease the strain on the grid. They warned of major power failures, threatened mandatory power outages, and predicted higher power rates if we did not "do our part" to ease the strain. This begs the question: if Idaho's power grid is already unable to keep up with the demand for power, during peak times, then why would Idaho Power even consider asking you to approve a tariff/penalty on possibly the single greatest option available to Idaho residents to "do their part to ease the strain on the grid"? We are all well aware that Idaho's population has been growing at an unprecedented rate which will continue to burden an already seemingly maxed out system. Clearly Idaho Power's motives are entirely self serving and not at all in the best interests of Idaho's ability to provide affordable and sustainable power for its current citizens and the generations to come. It is for these reasons that I implore you to once again vote "No" against Idaho Power's greedy and nonsensical attempt to penalize the very people who would seek to help our beloved state continue to meet the needs of all of its residents. I didn't choose to be born in Idaho but I have chosen to stay and raise my family in this uniquely beautiful state and I believe it falls on all of us to continue to preserve the opportunities and quality of life that we have enjoyed thus far. Sincerely, Nicole Barnes" ------
