I am verifying that you have received comments that we have encouraged our constituents to send. I have not seen them on the PUC website, and see on my end that we have encouragedabout 40 of our supporters to send emails your way, through both the comment form and/or to the secretary@puc.idaho.gov address. This one is no different. It isa portal, a gateway between one world and the next. I ask you to choose to use modern financial tools to reduce this interest rate to closer to 5%. There are ways to raise the needed $27 million but customers should not be the ones to float the bill! As a customer, I am ALL for getting rid of coal-generated electricity. However, I'm concerned that the company is putting shareholder profits above the interests of its customers. I urge it company to take steps to reduce the interest rate on its debt and save OUR money. We are, after all, the reason they exist. Thank you. This is a great way to save Idaho Power customers money instead of benefiting shareholders through larger rate increases to cover the cost of retiring those coal plants. In turn, Idaho Power has a duty to choose their customers over investors and must pursue the Utility Cost Reduction Bond. Idaho Power's "Purpose" (as quoted from their website) is as such; "We are passionate about powering lives with reliable, affordable, clean energy, while developing innovative solutions every day. Serving those who depend on us is at the center of everything we do. We all prosper by committing to the needs, safety and success of our customers, communities, employees and shareholders." The first party or partner mentioned in this Purpose statement is "customers" while "shareholders" are the very last. Undoubtedly, the wording and order of this Purpose statement is deliberate and was not chosen lightly by Idaho Idaho. Idaho Power must live up to its self stated Purpose and put customers first! While our current electric rates are designed to cover Bridger's costs to 2034, no further increases would be needed to customers; therefore, Bridger's plans to collect additional dollars through 2030 would solely benefit the shareholders at the expense of customers. There is no justification for this. The claim of "needing additional funds for the transition" is a blatant attempt to take money from consumers, and solely for the benefit of increasing revenue unnecessarily punitive. Choose customers over shareholders and help Idaho keep the air clean, as well as its waters. When the air is dirty, the water is as well. Thank you. I am also a retired electrical and computer engineer who has watched prices for solar and wind energy drop below that of coal and now gas. We also know that the impacts of burning coal and methane are making our planet rapidly uninhabitable. Therefore, as a mother, and homeowner with solar on her home who has cut her carbon footprint by 75%, I ask you to retire Idaho's coal plants ASAP and replace them with clean energy, not methane.
