Case No. IPC-E-21-12 Supplemental Filing
ln the Matter of ldaho Power Company's Application for a Determination
Acknowledging its North Valmy Power Plant Unit 2 Exit Date
Dear Ms. Noriyuki:
On April 30,2021, ldaho Power Company ("ldaho Power" or "Company") filed an
Application for a Determination Acknowledging its North Valmy Power Plant Unit 2 Exit
Date along with the supporting Direct Testimony of Jared L. Ellsworth. As discussed by
Company witness Mr. Ellsworth in his testimony, the Company issued a request for
proposal ("RFP') on April 26,2021, for the delivery to ldaho of firm capacity and energy
during the summer months through 2025 to test the transmission deliverability and
resource market availability of a replacement resource for Valmy Unit 2. Because
responses to the RFP were not due until after ldaho Powerfiled its request in this case, the
Company committed to supplementing its filing to inform stakeholders of proposals
received.
RFP responses were due to ldaho Power May 4, 2021. However, the Company
received no bids and therefore has no proposals to evaluate. The Company's lack of
receipt of bids could be indicative of evolving market conditions, which factor into the
Company's consideration of reliability. The results of all resource alternative analyses
continue to support an exit from operations of Valmy Unit 2 in 2025.
!f you have any questions about this supplemental filing, please do not hesitate to
contact me.
Very truly yours,
