Hello,
Please share this email with members of the Idaho PUC. Thank you.
Dear ID PUC members,
I’m very concerned about the Idaho Power Company’s (IPC) plans to end net metering on Dec 1, 2020 for
irrigators & commercial businesses in Idaho. The PUC requires that IPC do a net metering valuation study before
they move ahead with plans regarding net metering. Well, IPC hasn’t done their study! They seem to be ignoring
the PUC requirements.
By ending net metering for farmers, irrigators & commercial businesses in Idaho, these large users of electricity
are left with uncertainty as to the value of installing solar. Thus they may easily be discouraged from doing so. Yet
the IPC publicly claims that it supports solar!
With the effects of climate change becoming more & more apparent every day, it’s imperative to our species &
all other living things on planet earth, that we humans take immediate action to radically decrease our dependence
upon fossil fuels for energy. Fossil fuels emit huge amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) into our atmosphere, and CO2
is the major contributor to climate change! We need to switch to non-polluting sources of energy, sustainable
energy sources, and do so NOW. (or as soon as possible). Solar is a clean energy source & is becoming less
expensive everyday. (A big plus is that many new jobs are being created in the solar industry, and new jobs are
always needed in Idaho!).
IPC is going backwards if they cut net metering to their large energy consuming customers! They need to be
encouraging these customers to at least supplement their energy needs with solar. Please vote NO on IPC’s plans to
end met metering for these companies.
Thank you,
