ldaho Power's Exit
from Coal Plant
Lowers Customer Bills
On Oct. 11,2019,ldaho Power filed a request with the
ldaho Public Utilities Commission (IPUC)to decrease
rates for ldaho customers. The decrease is the result of
the company's agreement to cease operations at the
Boardman coal-fired power plant on Dec. 31, 2020.
ldaho Power is requesting the decrease as its exit from
Boardman approaches. A refund is due to customers
after truing up a balancing account and selling certain
plant assets. The decrease will reflect an annual revenue
reduction of $1.06 million, effective Jan.1,2020.
ln addition to reducing customer prices, ceasing
operations at Boardman aligns with ldaho Power's goal
to provide 1 00% clean energy by 2045 as part of its Clean
Today, Cleaner Tomorrow initiative.
lf ldaho Power's request in this matter is approved by
the IPUC as filed, the average ldaho residential customer
using 950 kilowatt hours per month will see a reductron
of $0.09, effective Jan. 1 , 2020. lmpacts for all ldaho
customers are as follows.
