I am an Idaho Power customer, and I support clean energy because it protects air quality, combats climate change, supports energy independence, and is just plain good for Idaho’s economy. I was happy to learn of Idaho Power's plan for early divestment from coal firedplants. However, I feel that Idaho Power needs to take more pro-active steps to replace this energy source with clean, local solar energy. Idaho Power’s plan falls short because it does notaddress how (or whether) it will provide continued and increasing incentives that will promote customer-owned generation of electricity, such as rooftop solar. Instead of investing inmethane gas plants and new transmission lines, Idaho Power should commit to specific, local clean energy projects like the Jackpot Solar plant south of Twin Falls that will create jobs inIdaho. I am glad that Idaho Power has begun the transition to clean energy, but the transition needs to accelerate if we are going to continue to enjoy our quality of life in Idaho.
