The Idaho PUC staff looked at Idaho Powers documents and found no reason to segregate solar customers.Instead,I ask the PUC to direct Idaho Power to consider the full range of costs and benefits that arise when customers avoid utility power and meet their own needs with local clean energy. Because I cant choose my utility,I rely on the PUC to ensure fair programs. Please maintain the current net metering program. It's important that we as customers should be able to offset our power with solar without paying higher prices. PLEASE MAINTAINTHE NET METERING PROGRAM!I have not yet been able to add solar power to my home, but I hope to do so soon, and need to know that net metering will be available to me.And to so many other Idahoans. As Public UtilityCommissioners, your overriding responsibility is to chart a clean sustainable renewable energy future for Idaho.Do not let Idaho Power divert you from that critical task. Again, please retain the net metering program.Sincerely,-Laurence ("Laird")J.Lucas,Boise homeowner since 1993. While I am an Avista costumer,I fear that if Idaho Power's proposal is approved,it will also impact customers of other utilities as well.I hope to install solar panels on my own home in the future, but if Idaho Power's proposal is adopted it would create a disincentive to homeowners that would otherwise consider installing solar panels on their homes. Solar energy is also critical to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and fostering domestic energy independence. Furthermore, because the energy sector was deregulated according to free market principles, electricity consumers should have some choice with regard to how they get their energy.Idaho Power's proposal only further monopolizes their stranglehold on a geographic segment of the market. Please continue to deny Idaho Power's efforts to undermine the rights of consumers to install solar panels. Idaho is known for its potatoes and mean, perverted politicians. If this policy is passed,Idaho will a laughingstock again. We need to move forward with alternative energy, not backwards,by encouraging citizens to take part in going green. We can't do that by forcing them into a special pay class.Don't be bullied by Idaho Power into doing something.Stand up for the citizens.Stand up for your constituents.Don't embarrass us again. I look forward to attending the public hearing on this issue.
