Comment:I urge the IPUC to reject the proposal by Idaho Power to potentiallybill customers with on-site generation
and net metering at a different rate than customers who don't generate their own electricity.
I am considering having a solar panel system installed at my home at a net cost of approximately $16,000 after federalandstaterebate.This investment will likely take 15-20 years to pay me back under current Idaho Power rules.IdahoPowerchangingtherulesasproposedwouldmakethisalosinginvestmentandIwouldhavenochoicebuttoabandontheproject.
Please require that Idaho Power evaluate the full benefits and costs and provide detailed justification before youconsiderchangestotheratestructure.
The fact that they are not requesting pricing changesat this time doesn't matter.This proposal lays the groundwork forfuturerateproposalsthatcouldreducetheaffordabilityandadoptionofsolarandotherrenewableenergy.
