Regarding: Case Number IPC-E-17-13
Dear Sir/Madam
I support Idaho's renewable energy efforts and solar power initiatives.
Consequently I am writing to object to the Idaho Power Co. proposal to change the
net-metering rates (Schedule B ) by increasing the tariff to new solar customers.
This new tariff, proposed by Idaho Power, will drastically discourage new solar
installation in the State. In a similar manner, the change from 20 year contracts to 2
year ones will further discourage the solar industry, as it adds uncertainty to the
break-even date for homeowners. This shortened contract proposed by the power
utilities may almost completely stop homeowner installation of solar energy
because it would increase the payback period as well as reduce the value of homes
with solar systems.
The IPUC should be encouraging alternative energy and progressive innovation in
the State. Many businesses and individuals review a State's efforts to promote such
efforts before locating in the State.
In summary, please reject the proposed increase in rate tariffs to solar users and
please reject the change from 20 year contracts to 2.
I look forward to testifying before the IPUC in March, 2018 on this issue. Please
place me on the sign-up list.
