ldaho Power Customer
8t22t2017
Dear Members of the Public Utilities Commission,
On behalf of Bluebird Solar and Light, an ldaho based solar installation company, we
ask that ldaho Power's request for net-metering changes be denied. We ask this for the
following reasons:
1) ldaho Power wants to create a new rate class without telling its net-metering
customers the value of the energy they produce. This lack of detail is creating
uncertainty among solar clients which is directly hurting the local solar industry. No
potential solar client will install solar without knowing their long-term potential savings.
The ldaho Solar industry will come to a grinding halt, losing hundreds of jobs.
2) Net-metering in its current form creates localjobs.
3) Net-metering reduces pollution and carbon emissions.
4) Net-metering empowers customers to have control over their personal energy impact.
5) The energy generation from net-metering reduces the demands on ldaho Power
plants.
6) Net metering will allow IPCO to avoid future utility scale renewable energy projects.
7) Net metering clients have (and will continue to) pay for their solar systems without
any cost to IPCO for IPCO customers. lf IPCO deems their work to install a net-meter
greater than the current fee of $100, then that is the change that should be made.
The ldaho PUC has the opportunity to be a leader for renewable energy and the rights
of individuals rather than the local energy monopoly. lt is essential to set the precedent
firmly that ldaho Power must support the environment, it's clients, and the local
economy by retaining net metering in its current form.
Thank you,
John Reuter
