An IDACORP Companyiii": {.l f:it/r ft .' ,', 1;_-l' ,t I plJ &: Sg r:..,.r i. ,.ii.ir trn . t,.i.ir-.: , l; :r-; , December 31,2018 VIA HAND DELIVERY Diane Hanian, Secretary ldaho Public Utilities Commission 472 West Washington Street Boise, ldaho 83702 Case No. !PC-E-17-13 New Schedules for Residential and Small General Service Customers with On-Site Generation - Status Update to the Commission Dear Ms. Hanian On May 9,2018, the Idaho Public Utilities Commission ("Commission") issued Order No. 34046 in Case No. IPC-E-17-13 directing ldaho Power Company ("ldaho Power" or "Company") in part: (1) to initiate a docket to comprehensively study the costs and benefits of on-site generation on ldaho Power's system, as well as proper rates and rate design, transitional rates, and related issues of compensation for net excess energy provided as a resource to the Company, and to (2) file a study with the Commission exploring fixed-cost recovery in basic charges and other rate design options prior to its next general rate case. On page 23 of that order, the Commission also directed the Company to file a status update with the Commission "on a quarterly basis, with more specific deadlines prescribed in the coming notice of application in that matter." On October 19, 2018, ldaho Power filed a Petition to lnitiate Docket to study fixed costs of providing electric service to customers in Case No. IPC-E-18-16. ln Order No. 34190 issued on November 9, 2018, the Commission issued a Notice of Petition and lntervention Deadline. Ten parties timely requested intervenor party status, resulting in a Notice of Parties issued on December 17,2018. The Commission Staff has organized an initial prehearing conference to occur on January 11,2019, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the Commission Hearing Room. Although the agenda has yet to be set, the prehearing conference will develop the procedural and substantive scope of the docket, as well as address scheduling, settlement negotiations, and other matters. As directed by Order No. 34190, the Commission Staff will report back to the Commission by April 30, 2019, at which time "the Commission will issue additional orders or notices setting further scope and procedure, including a public hearing for customers." Box 70 (83707) 1221 W. ldaho St. Boise, lD 83702 Re Diane Hanian December 31,2018 Page 2 Now that ldaho Power has filed its Petition to lnitiate Docket in Case No. IPC-E-18- 16 and the Commission has issued a Notice of Petition with more specific deadlines, ldaho Power believes the conditions underlying the need for ldaho Power to file a quarterly status update between cases have been resolved. lndeed, the Commission Staff will file the next update/report in April per Order No. 34190.
