BOISE, Idaho, Dec. 22, 2016 -Today, Idaho Power filed an application with the Idaho Public Utilities Commission {IPUC) requesting to: • Decrease the Energy Efficiency Rider (Rider) collection percentage from 4 percent to 3.75 percent of base rate revenues effective March l, 2017. • Provide a one-time refund of $13 million of previously collected Rider funds to be included in the 2017/2018 Power Cost Adjustment (PCA) effective June 1, 2017. • Going forward, eliminate the annual transfer of certain Rider funds through the PCA. The Energy Efficiency Rider pays for the analysis and implementation of demand side management (DSM) programs. It is included on customers' monthly bills under the "Energy Efficiency Services" line item. If the proposal to decrease the Rider collection percentage is approved by the IPUC, the price Idaho customers pay for electric service will reflect a decrease in annual revenue collection of about $2.5 million beginning March 1. This is an overall percentage decrease of 0.22 from current prices. The typical Idaho residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy per month will see a decrease of about $0.22 on their monthly bill. The actual dollar amount of the decrease will vary depending upon each customer's usage and the rate they pay.
