From:Amos Galpin [mailto:Amos@lostdrawranch.com] Sent:Monday,August 07,2017 3:11 PM To:Jean Jewell <Jean.Jewell@puc.idaho.gov>;Camille Christen <Camille.Christen@puc.idaho.gov> Subject:comments on WR transmission line Dear Idaho PUC, I am writing about the proposed transmission line between Hailey and Ketchum. I am opposed to the line because it is expensive, unnecessary and ineffective. It is expensive,It’s going to cost millions to underground power so that tourists don’t have to see power lines. While that’s all great, what about the rest of us who have to pay for that?It is unnecessary. The existing line has worked great for 40 plus years. How about spending a tenth as much on just fixing it?It is ineffective. It runs alongside the existing line so anything that threatens the existing line would also threaten it.It wouldn’t help in the case of a fire, and it wouldn’t have done anything for the Christmas Eve blackout. I know that SV Company and St.Luke’s Hospital need a secure power source. Why don’t they increase their generator capacity? Why should all the rest of us have to pay for their power needs? I encourage the commission to deny the request for this line and do what’s right for the rate payers and the power users in the north valley. Sincerely, Amos Galpin 1
