Comment:Every two years utility companies file a plan with state regulators to show how they will meet future energy
needs for the next 20 years.In its latest resource plan,Idaho Power proposes shutting down their two North Valmy coal
plants in 2025.Kudos to Idaho Power for looking towards early coal retirement.The problem is their proposal is just
taking the easy way out.
Idaho Power’s own analysis shows that it would save customers $75 million if they shut down unit 1 in 2019 rather than
2025,as well as reduce our C02 emissions.Idaho Power says that it’s just too hard to get everything worked out for a
2019 unit 1 shutdown.Please make Idaho Power work harder to reduce its emissions.They always seem to put things
so far into the future that it does no good for present day pollution.
Public Utilities Commissioners,I think saving customers $75 million is worth asking Idaho Power to work hard!Please
have Idaho Power to implement a 2019 shutdown of the North Valmy unit 1 coal plant or else come back and tell us why
its too hard to do what is best for their customers and our climate.

I understand that Idaho Power proposes to shut down their two North Valmy coal plants in 2025.
Shutting down coal plants is good.
However,Idaho Power’s own analysis shows that it would save customers $75 million if they shut down unit 1 in 2019
rather than 2025,as well as reduce our C02 emissions.
I hereby request that the Public Utilities Commission direct Idaho Power to implement a 2019 shutdown of the North
Valmy unit 1 coal plant or else come back and explain in detail why they cannot do what is best for their customers and
our climate.

will effect our economy or our environment more than man-made global warming.Idaho Power could save consumers

Comment:It is my belief that the most dominate fear that future generations will face is global warming.In Idaho,which
is a agricultural state,and dependent on adequate water for crops,we need to give our very best effort to effect
weather patterns that are beneficial.Our lakes need to be replenished by snow melt which is within 10%of the norm,or
better.This means that the shutdown of North Valmy in 2019 is critical in the fight to impact global warming.
I support the closing of all coal fire power plants by 2019.This country was built by the concepts of hard work and giving
your best effort.The PUC should mandate that the 2019 date be embraced by coal fire plant managers.The power
industry certainly has data to support what forms of power production are most innovative and cost effective.

I am writing about the Integrated Resource Plan.I believe Idaho Power and every other energy company needs to start
shutting down their coal plants.This is a dirty industry.Our health (lungs)is important.There are more,better energy
choices every day.I hate to see the legacy coal plants costing so much money to maintain &upgrade.And we/they
should not enter any new agreements that will cost millions or billions of dollars for the foreseeable future.Let’s move
forward.There is so much potential in the new energy sources,some that may not even require transmission lines.I
hope we,the rate payer,and they,the power company,will have the flexibility to adapt to the new energy sources.
