Honorable Paul Kjellander Honorable Mack Redford Honorable Marsha Smith Idaho Public Utilities Commission 472 West Washington Street Boise,Idaho 83702 Re:PUC Case No.IPC-E-14-20 firm Energy Sales Agreement with Boise City Solar, LEC Dear Commissioners Kjellander,Redford and Smith: I am writing in strong support of the Boise City Solar project.I recently had the good fortune of signing the updated 2014 U.S.Mayor’s Climate Protection Agreement. As part of this agreement,Boise reaffirmed its commitment to substantially reducing the community’s carbon footprint through improved day-to-day City operations and innovative community partnerships. This proj ect is an ideal demonstration of this commitment. Boise City has teamed with Sunergy World LLC,(Sunergy),a local company,to develop this large scale solar project on City-owned property located at our biosolids application facility south of town.According to Idaho Power, the proposed 40-MW Boise City Solar,LLC facility will generate enough electricity to serve 27,700 homes, which is nearly 40%of the homes in Boise. The result is a project that provides predictable energy rates, helps diversifi 1PC’s energy portfolio, reduces carbon footprint, and promotes a local company that enhances our Idaho economy. The Idaho PUC has a long legacy of supporting innovative approaches from the adoption of sound energy efficiency programs to your continued support of renewable energy. The Boise City Solar project presents yet another opportunity to demonstrate the Idaho PUC ‘s continued support of innovative and sustainable energy solutions. Sincerely, David H.Bieter Mayor Cc:Neal Oldemeyer,Public Works Director
