Every megawatt generated by these photovoltaic panels is one less megawatt that needs to be generated by Idaho Power’s coal and natural gas-fired power plants. This results in less carbon dioxide spewed into the air and fewer toxins generated by burning fossil fuels. Grand View PV Solar Two will also give Idaho Power and the developers more knowledge regarding integration with the grid, reliability, suitability for peak loads in July, and low costs. I love the idea of utility-scale solar in Idaho and hope that you will approve this Power Purchase Agreement. This project produces no emissions and will be sited on 560 acres of unused farmland. Its construction should,at worst, have a minimal environmental impact. Further, the project will prove an economic boon for Elmore County by providing a large number of local jobs during construction, many permanent full-time jobs for maintenance of the facility (jobs which can be filled by Idahoans),an increase of almost X million dollars annually in tax revenue and increased revenue during the construction period.
