Comment:Idaho Power has asked the Idaho Public Utilities Commission (PUC)to approve their
plan to charge ratepayers $130 million to keep their coal plants in Wyoming clunking along
for decades longer.This expenditure is just the tip of the iceberg as it will cost hundreds
of millions of more dollars to keep these aging coal plants in compliance with pending
regulations.Idaho Power should be investing in Idaho’s renewable energy future and energy
efficiency.Instead the company is wasting money on old technology and protecting its
stockholders —and seeking PUC assurance that it can pass these costs onto ratepayers.Idaho
Power should be investing in clean energy sources instead of investing in old and dirty
sources.
