Comment:Do not to put Idaho Power ratepayers on the hook for Idaho Power’s risky investments
in aging coal plants.Idaho Public Utilities Commission (PUC)must not approve Idaho Power’s
current plan to charge ratepayers $130 million to keep polluting coal plants in Wyoming
clunking along for decades longer.The request for this ratepayer-funded expenditure is just
the tip of the iceberg as the coal plants cost hundreds of millions of more dollars to keep
in compliance with pending regulations.Idaho Power should be investing in Idaho’s renewable
energy future and energy efficiency.Instead the company is wasting money on old technology
and protecting its stockholders —and seeking PUC assurance that it can pass these costs onto
ratepayers.
