Please describe your comment briefly:
I joined the Idaho Power program that would allow the company to turn off my air conditioner
during peak hours. I joined the program because I want to support programs that are
important to helping utilities develop programs to keep costs low, develop longitudinal data
about program use by the public which can be used for future decision-making, and generally
keep programs about what we can do (public involvement) to actively participate in how our
country is run (e.g. infrastructure, public hearings, etc.) Now, I received a letter saying
Idaho Power was discontinuing this and other program that work to those ends. I am writing
to ask the PUC to reject their request.
While I am happy they feel they have enough power for the near future, the time will come
when they will want to institute these programs again and there will be those who wont join
a second time, they will not have this longitudinal data base of information that will allow
them to make good judgments, and it will be that much harder to convince people that they
can, and should, participate in programs like this. I know Idaho Power wants to save money
but this should be a long-term decision for them and the PUC instead of just looking at
dollar savings for the coming year. Please do not allow Idaho Power to stop or suspend these
programs.
Thank you.
