Subject: Temporary suspension of the A/C Cool Credit program
Dear Commission Members:
'OA ' F1.. 00i.I...
.:TILE1IES ':;ciISS.
I am dismayed and puzzled about the letter that I received from Idaho Power regarding the
suspension of the above mentioned program.
I enrolled in the program at its inception, and I have appreciated that it helped to control my
cooling costs in the summers. It wasn't without moments of discomfort but it was worth it
because it helped with expenses.
If I understand the letter correctly, Idaho Power has decided to suspend the program because they
don't feel it is needed any longer and for the purpose of adding to their profits. I don't suppose
that in itself is wrong, but I feel a little betrayed because I thought I was helping them as well as
myself. If the program was to be temporary, they should have made that known at the time.
I think the big rate increase they received in the last year should be enough. It's too bad that we
aren't in an area that could support some serious competition.
I am opposed to you allowing them to suspend the program on the basis that I think they sold the
program for their own convenience which wasn't always convenient for users. Now they don't
need the public who bought into the idea anymore. Somehow that doesn't sit well with me.
Thank you for your time and attention.
