Comment:Re:Order 32880 CASE NO.IPC-E-12-27
In Section 3 of the Order, the Commission asks for comments in response to its question:“If
a net metering customer takes service through multiple meters at one or more premises, should
the customer be allowed to apply net metering credits to offset usage on the other meters? If
so,what conditions should apply?”
I have a house and two commercial buildings on a two acre lot that faces two streets.
Separate meters serve the buildings.Additionally, given topography, roof design and
vegetation, only one roof is suitable for solar PV installation.Given both the constraints
of my buildings and the economies of scale,it would be desirable to build one system.
It is in keeping with the Commission’s stated purpose of Net Metering —allowing Customers to
offset usage —to allow a Customer to transfer credits earned at one meter to offset usage on
another of the Customer’s meters. The condition the Commission should apply is that the same
Customer be paying for both meters and that the Net Metering be calculated across all the
meters as if they were one.
