To Whom it May Concern:
Here is my opinion about Idaho Power’s proposed changes to net metering:
I request that the Idaho Utility Commission reject the changes to net metering services proposed by Idaho
Power. The proposed changes will greatly discourage the use of solar energy in our state. We have lots
of sunshine in many parts of Idaho and we should take advantage of it.We need to consider the future
when fossil fuels will become more difficult and expensive to extract.Perhaps if more people added solar
panels and signed up for net metering as it exists today,Idaho Power wouldn’t need to buy so much
power from coal burning power plants.I had been considering adding solar panels to my home but this
change to net metering will make it very unattractive to do so.
Please also consider that continued burning of fossil fuels for energy is increasing the amount of carbondioxideinouratmosphere. This increase is causing climate change which is affecting our weatherpatternsandprecipitation.Lets prepare for the future by encouraging individuals to use solar energy for
their needs and compensate them for any extra energy they produce.Idaho Power should also be
looking into solar energy farms like they have in Arizona.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
