I am one of the 350 plus net-metering customers and I am strongly opposed to the the
ridiculous changes proposed.
I am also a citizen,who cares about the effects of coal and gas fired generators on our
environment.We recently surpassed 400 ppm of co2 at some reporting stations and
solar and wind generation can be a way of reducing our emissions.Some of us have
invested our own funds to put in solar arrays,changed to water based heat pumps,and
changed our lighting to LED to do our part.Why are we being penalized in this effort?
I also am a Snowbird who has put in a solar system on a house in Lake Havasu City,
Arizona.That system was paid for in part by the Utility(Unisource Electric).They paid
about 50%of it.They also pay for the excess generation at wholesale rates.Their
service fee is $8 per month.This seems fair to me.
The all-time peak according to IPC was on July 12,2012 at the hour ending at 4 pm
when Solar is contributing at a high rate.Power at a peak time like this is worth much
more than any other time.That alone is worth some consideration,not penalized by
much higher costs.
In the proposal IPC says some net-metering customers will pay more(l think all)and
some less.Please tell me under what situation some will pay less.
How can a demand charge be justified when in most cases the power will stay in the
neighborhoods.In some cases,if there are irrigation pumps,it helps to prop up the
voltages to help them run cooler.
