I am not currently a net metering customer of Idaho Power, but I have been looking into options that are out there. I feel, whether I join solor users or not, that it is totally unfair of Idaho Power to charge different fees for residential users just because they economise and use less power. Also, if there is any surplus generated at the end of the year, I feel it only fair to ALLOW Idaho Power to PURCHASE that power, since it will actually be at alower cost than a large facility would get for payment for a like amount of power produced. The billings are now so computer controlled that it will not require additional help for figuring the amount of the purchase value. If they are allowed to just take the extra power without any kind of reimbursement, it will amount to actual theft, in my opinion. I am also a councilmember in the city of Notus, and we recently upgraded our city hall to utilize solar, because of the sales pitch we were given about not only helping the environment but reducing the necessity of Idaho Power to continue investing in upgrading their production facilities. Now, we are being told that is not the case, that they want more money from us in the long run. I feel for the betterment of Idaho, and the future of its power supplies, small residential producers should not be penialized.
