Red Stone Dr. City: Boise State: Idaho Zip: 83712 Daytime Telephone: 208-344-4012 Contact E-Mail: mnimages@hotmail.com Name of Utility Company: Idaho Power Acknowledge: acknowledge Please describe your comment briefly: Dear PUC: We must not increase charges on residents who have renewable energy installations. Especially solar, wind, geothermal, and small hydroplants. A monthly service charge increase from $5 to $20.92 and a basic load charge increase of 1.48 cents per kWh will discourage customers from investing in renewable energy. Coal is a dirty polluting energy source putting mercury and other poisonous heavy metals into the air and fish in addition to CO2 greenhouse gas warming the Earth. Especially small and medium sized solar units have zero discharge and could make up most of sunny Idahos energy for electricity. Much less sunny Germany is now %50 to %100 solar and wind for their energy needs. They did it, so can we. Fracked natural gas avoids soot and heavy metal pollution, but not CO2 climate warming gas even though less than coal. However, well fracking for gas also releases Methane that is 25 times the global warming effect of CO2. Solar energy is the long-term solution to energy independence in the U.S. I strongly request the PUC deny this rate charge increase or any increase to renewable energy installation customers. Sincerely, Ron Marquart The form submitted on http://www.puc.idaho.gov/forms/ipucl/ipuc.html IP address is 65.129.82.202 1
