We value low energy prices and the economic development they bring. However, keeping those benefits in place as our community continues to grow requires an investment in the infrastructure. In an ideal world that infrastructure comes from the private sector, using funding that is both good for business and eventually good for the public. Our nation runs on resources that are becoming less available and more expensive. Some of those resources are controlled by people who are outside our borders. So it is quite obvious to me that our country must develop more of our own sources of energy, as well as energy that fits our needs and provides power when and how we need it most. It is with those things in mind that I write in support of the efforts Dynamis Energy has made to move forward a waste-to-energy project at the Ada County Landfill. While I do not have deep knowledge on the internal workings of the project, I like the approach and believe that it represents the direction we need to go as a state. From the potential cost savings for the county to energy efficiencies we would have here in the Treasure Valley, this project has great potential.
