The Idaho Energy Education Project believes that a portion (8%) of the customers share from
the sale of 502 credits by Idaho Power should be invested in energy efficiency and education
so that there might be a continuing benefit of reduced 502 emissions. Though the pilot
energy education program facilitated by Idaho Power with customer 502 funds has only finished
it s first year, substantial energy savings were identified via student audits. Many of our
schools districts have declared economic emergencies and so there are not the funds available
to implement those savings. Using a portion of 502 sales funds for the purpose of
implementing the energy efficiency upgrades would be in the long term public interests. This
would not mean a mere spending of those monies, but a return on that investment over the long
run.
In short, Please use the money needed to continue the energy education program.
