Dear Commissioners, I request that you allow Idaho Power to continue participation in the
Northwest Energy Alliance as a means to promote energy efficiency, innovation and
sustainabili ty. At a time when electricity needs will increase and hydro- power is declining,
it is important to promote creative alternatives that will continue to promote energy
efficiency. I am a participant in the Payette Forest Collaboration aimed at animal habitat
and forest management improvement through landscape scale treatment in the Payette National
Forest. We hope to begin a similar collaboration in the Boise National Forest soon. Idaho
Power can be an important partner for buying electricity from woody biomass and other
alternative fuel producing facilities that can help di versi fy and sustain our energy future,
as well as creating new jobs.
