They just raised rates 1.61%, and now they request another 11% increase. I do understand that this is an annual request, but in this time of recession/depression, this is as bad as the banks and auto companies ripping us off . It appears the Idaho Power does not have to be run like a business, having to work with increasing costs wi thin the organization. Instead, all they have to do is ask for a rate increase to offest any addional costs they may incur. Sure wish that Uncle Sam would let me do the same, except that my income is fixed. I request that this rate hike proposal be denied, at least until such time as we see a 13% increase in our economy. Thank you. I can not say enough about how absolutely outrageous this is. I understand that certain costs have gone up... and that the actual increase granted by the commission is usually smaller than what is requested. . . however: Look across the business community in general and see what types of cost-cutting measures · pri vate companies i (used in a strict sense) have instituted; I myself have worked at Micron Technology for 18+ years and have seen huge cost-cutting measures. What types of cost- cutting has Idaho Power instituted??? We're in a period of serious deflation (especially from a wage standpoint); what changes/cuts has Idaho Power made? Before any type of rate increase be granted, a serious audit of Idaho Powers processes and costs need to be evaluated. It baffles me that a somewhat monopoly-like company like Idaho Power could potentially continue to be granted rate increases in this environment without seriously looking at their cost-structure. I would like to see a serious discussion on this and would like to be informed of what steps are/will be taken to ensure that customers are being protected for these types of requests. I want to know if the Company employees from top to bottom have taken a pay cut. All of Idaho and across the nation, workers have loss benefits and loss wages. Before any increases are approved Should i nt cuts be made. The people of Idaho are hurting and that includes me. It just not right that public utility workers escape this economic problem. Raising the rates without planning for the day when there isn i t much cola left or much CNG is silly - prices will go up, and power output down. I object to the increase until Idaho Power has a plan to invest in renewable energy such as wind and solar. If they want an 11% increase, then they need to invest 11% into renewable resources as well. Stop the monopoly that is Idaho Power. I know they are not because you are regulating them however when a company buys off the regulaters that makes them a monopoly. Us here in western Idaho have no choice but to pay the monoploly prices. All water sheds are above average so there is plenty of water to generate power. I am getting tired of them coming to the trough every year for an increase and you people giving it to them. They ask for a 19% increase and you give them a 7%. Haven't you figured out that is what they want. They know they will not get the 19 but they ask for it knowing you will offer a little less. It is their poor management decesions that are at the core of their problems and you guys are more than happy to let us pay for thei r bad judgement. Why don't you try to deny them once in a while. This is not california and our energy costs are not the same. But maybe you'll be happy when we pay what california does. Our economy seems to be getting worse everyday and they can't seem to manage their money very well. If I don't live within my budget, I cant't go asking someone for more. I know of an employee who works for Idaho power and is paid a $199 a day when away from home for food and lodging. He takes his travel trailer with him and cooks his own meals and pockets the $199 a day. This seems a bit extravagant when people are losing their jobs. Maybe the employees of Idaho power need a pay cut instead of asking their customers to continue paying more.
