Appropriate Disposition of SO2 Emission Proceeds for Energy Education Proposal
Dear Ms.Jewell:
Enclosed please find Idaho Power’s summary report on the disposition of SO2 Emission
Proceeds for Energy Education.This report is filed in compliance with the directive stated in Idaho
Public Utilities Commission Order No.30760,which ordered that $500,000 in SO2 proceeds,plus
accrued interest,be used to develop and implement an energy education project.
As you will see in the report,the Company established the Students for Energy Efficiency
Community Advisory Group (SEECAG)to facilitate the disbursement of funds for the development
and implementation of an energy education project.As guided by the SEECAG,Idaho Power
developed an elementary and secondary program to educate and promote energy efficiency for
Idaho students in the Idaho Power service territory.The program allows the students to use theirskillsinscienceandmathtoevaluatewhereenergyconsumptionimprovementscanandshouldbemade.The program,consisting of an elementary component (Energy Wise Program)and high
school component (Students for Energy Efficiency Program),was developed and implemented fortwoconsecutiveacademicschoolyears.
Enclosed with this cover letter are an original and three (3)copies of five separatedocuments:1)Idaho Power Company’s S02 Emissions Allowance Energy Education Program
summary report;2)2009-2010 Energy Wise Program Summary Report;3)2010-2011 EnergyWiseProgramSummaryReport;4)Fall 2009 Students for Energy Efficiency program workbook;
and 5)Fall 2010 Students for Energy Efficiency program workbook.
