I understand that you are trying to get people to conserve power, but the limits you have set are ridiculous! My home is all electric and I keep my thermostat set at 65 degrees in the winter to conserve power and my power bill this winter is easily $100 more per month than in winters past. You are kicking people who are already down from a bad economy. SHAME ON YOU!!!! ! ! ! ! Cf: ~ ~ In 2000 we buil ~ second home in the West Central Mountains near New Meadows. Our first home had radiant floor heat powered by propane. When we built our second home, we again preferred radiant floor heat. This time we were seduced by Idaho Power and their propaganda that an all-electric home, better known as a "Gold Medallion", was one we should all aspire to own. We felt more security in our fate in the hands of Idaho Power and their governing body, the Idaho Public Utili ties Commission than OPEC and the unstable countries fixing the price on oil which also affected the price of propane. Now it seems that in the conservative era we are living in, we are being penalized for the gluttonous use of power by your decision in June, 2009 to tier rates based on higher use. We do not heat approximately 25% of our home in the winter in an effort to conserve power. However, having almost the same amount of kilowatts use for the month of December, 2008, as we did this year for the month of December 2009, our bill rose from $474.54 to $661.68. This is an absurd price gouge of almost $200.00 per month. We live in a climate that requires keeping our home at around 68 degrees. We are not squandering power, we are trying to keep from freezing to death! WHAT ARE YOU THINKING???? Please reconsider your tier charges and make some allowance for those of us who were seduced into all-electichomes and must use more power to heat our homes .than those who have elected to use other means. Box 70 Boise, Idao 83707 1/l~ I am wrting to very strongly object to our power bils at #15, Sixt Lane, Casade, Idaho 83611. 1. We let for the witer on September 18 ,2009 to Sait George, Uta. We left the power on until the first of October for our son-in-law to let the fences dawn af the catte had gone out. The fuace was tued off and on only the few days he was there. Afer he left the plumber, Bud Lancing witerized the house, blowig out al the lines and emptig the hot water heater. 2. My children thought it would be ~ good idea to leave the heat on the lowest setting to protect the house. Then the bils staed comi in and I called and ha the shut off the power. 3. I have enclose a copy of the bils which under the cirumces are COMPLETEL Y OUTRAGEOUS. Ths does not include the bil which cae yesterday. At New Years my daughter who lives across the field asked if we would tu the power on as they had famly comig and needed an ext bedroom for only onenight. Noth wa tued on but the heat - the house was witerid. We expected to pay the $20.00 hookup but another $51.43 on top of tht? We were gone New Yea and did not get it tued off until the Tuesday afer New Year. These bils are alost as high as when we were there ful tie with rach work going on, the aiconditioner, hot water etc. and weekend guests alost every week. We do not in ths bad economy see how anyone can afford to pay ths kid of bils, and are voicing our objections with a copy to the Public UtiltiesCommssion. .
