I am angry with the PUC in regards to the tiered rate structure that they imposed upon Idaho
Power Co. residential customers. It penalizes rural customers and forces the subsidization
of urban customers. During this last billing cycle my usage went up 18% while our fee
increased 52% when compared to the same cycle last year. This is outrageous! We're just an
average family of four in a well-insulated home with new vinyl windows. I want a fair and
equitable rate that is the same for all residential customers. There should be a base rate
and then the same kw/h rate for all customers. Rural customers that must have electricity
for heat shouldn' t be penalized in the cold months which is what the current rate structure
does. The current rate structure needs to be abolished.
