There needs to be more oversight of this utility. As a consumer and taxpayer, I have no
choice but to use Idaho Power however I have noted that rates only go up, they never go down
and there is opportunity to reduce costs without reducing services. Each year, Idaho Power
comes to the commission with a ridiculous increase request which is always approved at a
smaller level. This is a distinct pattern, how come utili ties never cut costs, improve
efficiencies or layoff workers in economic downturns. There needs to be increased
operational audits and oversight, review of compensation plan, efficiency audits, etc to
protect the consumer. If I had an option, I would take my business somewhere else where they
were more responsive to customers and had better practices but I don' t have an option.
Therefore, since I'm forced to do business with Idaho Power, the IPUC needs to ensure the
utility is not taking advantage of taxpayers
