It has come to my attention that Idaho Power has applied for another rate hike this year.
If my information is correct they are asking for a 9.89% across the board.
I would like to just say , while you are considering this PLEASE keep in mind that the
economy of the whole country is in a slide and money is tight. This includes Idaho. Idaho
Power just received a rate hike a matter of months ago, which has put many Idaho customers in
a real bind where they are doing without lights part of the evening and cutting their grocery
budget short just to pay their light bill. ( which often times includes their heat) I for
one am having a difficult time with all my bills, but am at least sliding by for now.
Another rate increase would just about put me under. I am living on Social Security which
amounts to very little. This past January we all received a raise of approximately 3%.
Spread out to higher utilities and higher gas prices, along with higher food costs this3%
doesn't go far.
Please take into consideration the working class and the retired Americans before you allow
another increase.
