Dear Idaho Public utility Commission:
I write to briefly express my comments about the Idaho Power Company s lastest rate
increase request.
I do believe that Idaho Power Company is justified in increasing rates this time around. Icommend the Idaho Public Utility Commission on how it decided the last increase request by
the utility in 2005. The cost of doing business has increased and Idaho Power does need
more money to cover expenses and make a return to shareholders.
However, as a residential customer, I do not want to pay for Idaho Power s expansion plans
to service its new customer base. New distribution and transmission lines to service
existing customers is one thing, new such facilities to service a new and/or growing
customer base is another. I encourage the Commission to closely look at this issue.
New homes, businesses and industries are a potentially lucrative base on which Idaho Power
can substantially profit. The company should use its own money to expand these markets and
not attempt to pass this on to existing customers.
Please keep these important thoughts in mind as you make your decision. I thank you for
your time and trust you will make a decision of fairness to all parties involved.
