I am writing to comment on the 2006 Integrated Resource Plan. I am extremely disappointedto see coal and nuclear listed as future options. I would like to see a heavier relianceon wind and conservation and solar. It is extremely short sighted of us to consider coal,at a time when we are losing the stability of our climate due to man made changes in the
atmosphere.
Thank you for considering these comments, our very survival depends on not furtherdestabilizing our weather. Carbon emissions must be reversed, not added to.

Hi, I read that Idaho Power is considering including nuclear generation as a souce ofenrgy in
teh coming years and I would just like to say that I strongly oppose any such plans. Thefederal government has just embarked on a $2 billion clean up at INL the result of nuclear
spills and mismanagement over the years. If there is any take away from this it is thatnuclear is not safe, the risk of problems is too great and human being are fallible which
means that no facility will ever be failsafe. It is too great a risk. Nuclear should notbe a
source of energy when we have plentiful wind, solar and importantly geothermal sourcesuntapped.

I am STRONGLY OPPOSED to Coal fired power and Atomic Power being implemented in myBeautiful State of Idaho. We have enough contamination problems already!
Thanks,

Please describe your question or comment briefly:
The Idaho Power Interim Resource Plan still relies too heavily on 'dirty ' and unsafesources (coal-fired, IGCC, nuclear) for producing and acquiring energy for consumers inIdaho. We know the mercury levels from coal-fired energy are extremely unhealthy; we knowthere is no safe way to store spent nuclear fuel; we know the unknowns regarding CO2
sequestration imperil our aquifer, and we know not to trust the experimenters in such a
proj ect. They have put us in harm s way before and still haven t cleaned up the mess theyleft.
There are no plans to include solar power in the plan; there is no mention of
possibilities for upgrading our hydroelectric power production; there is little mention ofeducating and providing incentives for consumers to conserve energy. Al though we takeadvantage of the occasional utility sponsored special sales of florescent light bulbs, weall know those are token gestures that do not do the job of addressing the real
conservation issues we face.
We know it is the job of those who work for Idaho Power to keep the ' bottom line ' ofprofi tabili ty as their daily, clear , constant and perhaps, only focus. The disregard forwhat that focus might mean for the consumer does not inspire confidence or trust. Iftheyre the only game in town, we know we have to pay them for our energy use.Consequently in this current plan, they have not listened to the consumers here in the
Magic Valley who have made their wishes very clear; we have not gone away; we have not
lowered our expectations for what we want. We do not want any kind of energy produced
wi th coal or nuclear power; we do not want CO2 ' sequestered' in our ground. Nor do wewant to import energy produced with coal or nuclear power. We want more reliance on wind, solar, geothermal, hydroelectric, and plant based biodiesel.
The PUC should represent the best interests of the consumer, even the consumer who hides
his head in the sand, and the environment which must be protected and represented by allof us. Please, send Idaho Power back to the drawing board to come up with a more balanced
plan for providing the citizens of our state with clean energy. The sooner the better;
Idaho could be a leader for a change.
Thank you, Kathleen and William Tanaka

I am opposed to Idaho Powers Plan to rely on new coal and nuclear electrical power
generation to meet their customers future needs. The nuclear proposal is betting on aplant that has no plan no funding and Ii kely no future. The last proposal to burn coal inIdaho to generate power met a fitting end. Idahoans want to generate their power withrenewables. Public poles support this. My wife and I have been taking part in Fall RiverElectricss 'green power ' program for years and I know we aren t the only elctricallconsumers who do so. Lets move into the future with our new electrical power sources, notinot the past. Sincereely,
david hensel

Please accept these comments in regards to sources of energy.
Coal is dirty, especailly for the air, and should not be used to produce power. Nuclearhas no acceptable solution to dispose of spent fuel and it is very dangerous. We havevast supplies of solar and wind in this area. There is no reason to use these polluting, dirty, dangerous sources. Why would we even consider them? It makes no sense unless some
businesses that would make money from coal and nuclear power generation are paying someoneoff. I do not understand why more effort is not going into solar and wind powergeneration. It's an easy, sensible solution.
Please keep Idaho clean and safe!
Regards,
Joanie Fauci
