Comment description: I am planning to acquire property south of Nampa for a new residence
in a Class III wind area with intention to spend about $40,000 on a 20KW wind turbine.
This investment has only about a 10-15 year payout potential, but seems to be anenvironmentally responsible proj ect.
Idaho Power s declaration that they need a moratorium on new systems to allow for further
study is silly, considering the very small impacts that those residential systems present.
Should they study the future impacts of a growing interest in wind electrical powergeneration (posi ti ve and negative)? Certainly. What have they been doing the last 10years? This REALLY is not new technology. I f one took Idaho Power s advertisements
seriously, you would get the idea they are maj or proponents for ' green ' renewable energylike wind. Maybe they should spend more on actual al ternati ve energy development and
study and less talking about it on TV... I guess this recomendation for a moratorium on
Wind QF' s shows their true colors. I will wait to see the response of the IPUC on this
case before I spend $40K.
Thanks for this opportunity to comment.
