We can t even turn on our heat most of the winter. We use our wood burning stove when we can and we are looking into other sources of heat. If we warmed our house to a comfortable level in the winter it would cost $300-$ 4 00 a month. Now they want to increase our rates 6.3 percent every year. I realize the drought has made things more difficult but some of us can t handle any more increases. Thank you for considering our opinion. John and Jacalyn Redd Transaction 10: 430742. My reasons being... I have had a steady increase in my power bill for years and years, which have far exceeded any increase to my useable income. I feel that large corporations should bear some of the burden during a slow economy, for example, there profits and bonuses should reflect downturn. - I can not get a pay increase from my employer, due to Idaho Powers rate increases. - As far as the Bennett proj ect and other maintenance proj ects, the company should consume those costs, and pay back the loan just like the rest of us. - I can not bill MY employer for my new alarm clock and the bedding that I use in the daily operation of going to work for him. - Idaho Power should look internally at its operations in order to grow and maintain itself. Idaho Power gets a return on their investment by having more power to sell at a profit! Why should I have to invest into a moneymaking venture with Idaho Power if I don t get areturn on my investment? They cerainly won t be issuing stocks or bonds for this venture, and they will certainly be making a profit (or asking for a rate increase to cover theirbad investments... Other businesses don t get to charge every consumer an extra amount to invest in capital expenti tures for the purpose of increasing sales at a profit. Base rates need to stay the same in Idaho. Idaho Power is trying to raise their rates to expand their coverage and to be able to sell more electricity at a profit - not meet a need that isn t already being met.
