From information received in my last Idaho Power stateluent I learned that they had filed
an application with the Public Utilities Commission in December of last year. They
asked that $.30 being charged for the Conservation Program be increased to about $.
(approximately 2.75~o to 2.80% increase) to become effective on June 1 2005. They
further asked for another increase of 2.4% in June of 2007 to be approximately $1.36
monthly. Also received was their newsletter "Consumer Connection" directed to theit
Irrigators informing them that they could save from $2.01 per kilowatt to $2.76 per
kilowatt just for changing their irrigating between 4 and 8 p.m. to other times. The
11loney would COlne from tlns money from everyone else. They could easily change that
4 hour time to earlier in the day and not have to work at too early of a starting time. Why
Inust they be paid to do what is reasonable and right. The water company asks customers
to alternate watering days according to address, odd number water one day, even number
the next day, also not to water during the hot daytime hours. To my knowledge this
Seeing to work with i11ost people.
The point I'm nying to put across is that 2% here and 20/0 there doesn t seem like much
but if you live on Social Security you l11ight get a cost of living increase of2.7%with a
significant amount of that going to 1vledicare premiums. My raise per Inonth was $9.
$1.36 would be quite a lot especially wilen Idaho Power, Intermountain Gas and United
Water Idaho get much more when you grant them increases.
We old people and 1'U1 sure 111any \\lorking poor, unernployed and others depend on the
IPUC to think of our plight when bill paying time comes each month.
Thank you for your consideration of this request.
Respectfull y s ubmi tted.
