Comment description: We own a second home at 2253 West Mountain Road which is located
approximately one mile north of Tamarack Resort. Last fall, Idaho Power upgraded the power
line that feeds Tamarack Resort. Some of the new line was buried underground. However, for
some reason, Idaho Power brought the line above ground and installed new overhead power
lines approximately 1 mile north of our property and running over our property. In the
process, they cut down many trees along the way and butchered many more that were close to
the power line. In addition, they did not remove the trees and limbs they cut leaving
mess for the property owners to clean up. I understand the utili ties have a right of way
and they have the right to maintain it. However, I feel they should have buried the line
all the way to the Tamarack Resort. If they did, they would not have to continue to
destroy and maim the environment to maintain the overhead power lines. In addition, it
would seem to me that an underground line would be more reliable given the harsh winter
condi tions. I know we have experienced numerous outages during winter storms as a result
of heavy snow, high winds and trees falling on overhead lines. Further, it would seem to
me that it would be in the best interest of Tamarack Resort to maintain the beauty and
integri ty of the area around the resort (especially the ingress and egress). I feel that
Idaho Power should be required to bury the line underground and remove the existing powerpoles. Further, I think Idaho Power should be required to clean up the mess they left last
fall when they installed the upgraded power line.
