Washington Boise, Idaho 83702 Subject: Idaho Power General Rate Increase Dear Commissioners: We are very much opposed to Idaho Power s subject request. Idaho Power is profitable with its current rates as shown in its third quarter and year to date results published in its Consolidated Statements of Income. Idaho Power has cut its dividends to stockholders which gives it increased assets in its cash accounts. Idaho Power charged $144.00 to provide electric current to a duplex I just built. Take this amount times its acknowledgement of adding 100 000 customers times $144.00 equals $14,400 000 income to Idaho Power for just providing power to a new site. Idaho Power does not need an adjustment ill its base rate as new customers pay to get electric current to their sites. As each new customer uses power Idaho Power also has increased income from the new meters. Idaho Power customers should not be penalized with increased power rates because the company has been fined by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Idaho Power is protected by the Power Cost Adjustment calculated annually. The proposed Service Charge of$10.00 is almost four times the current Customer Charge of $2,51. Current earnings published as $1.22 per share and forecast up to $1.30 per share give Idaho Power plenty of cash for financial capability to continue to meet customer needs. A Base Rate increase is not needed. Yours truly, ~t'/.LI~ Irene V. There are many people on fixed incomes and also people in the workforce who aren I t getting annual or cost of living increases. Yet our utility companies are increasing rates in the double digit percent range. Summer rates have increased for gas and water , nowpower. Many people can I t afford current rates. The service charge hike from $2.51 to $10 per month is a big increase not to mention the base rate increase. At some point, utilities have to slow down the increases to be more in line with cost of living instead of being the ones driving up our cost of living so significantly. Transaction 10: 141004. There is many ways for you to stay in your budgets. For one sell off all the surpkus equepment you have setting around. If a truck is being driven once a week , Sellit. That one time it is used can be done with a differant vehicle. You bigger companys have so much surplus setting around it isnt funny. Then also cut back on the lazy workers. Itdont take four men to fix a wire. You can drive by any time and see one man working and three men leaning on a shovel or against the truck. You people are to use to the easy money. Just raise the rates let the poor bastard pay for your comfort.
