Re: Comments regarding Idaho Power s proposed Monthly Service Charge rate adjustment
Dear IPUC Commissioners:
The proposed rate increase in the Monthly Service Charge from $2.51 per month to $10.
per month would be an extreme hardship on my small business, and on my family.
The net effect of the proposed rate increase in the Monthly Service Charge from $2.51 per
meter to $10.00 per meter is an increased cost to us of$52.43 per month, or $629.16 per
year. This does not include any Base-rate increases allowed by the IPUC.
While my wife and I each have full time jobs, we also have a very small4-unit RV Park in
Cambridge that is located off the main Highway. Therefore, our drop-in business is much
less than the other RV Park in Cambridge, which is located on the highway. We are a family
that is working hard and struggling to make ends meet.
When we upgraded the 4-unit RV Park about 5 years ago, we installed individual 100 Amp
electric services at each space to allow for the possibility of long-term occupants to pay their
own power costs, as well as one separate meter for RV Park use (lighting, etc.). This was
very costly, and would NOT have been done if we had known the Monthly Service Charge
per meter, would increase at all, much less 4 times. There have been no long-term occupants
so that was a bad use of limited revenue. However, it would be very costly again to convert
five 100 Amp meters back to one (500 Amp ?) meter.
We also have 2 meters at our house, one being for the house and one for the detached garage.
Again, it is very expensive to combine two 200 Amp services into one 400 Amp service that
is remote from one location or the other.
The bottom line is that on-going monthly expenses are a very difficult burden during the
weeks and months of the year when there are no RV customers.
Thank you for your consideration.

Comment description: Dear Idaho Public Utilities Commission,
ve been a home owner in Meridian for 25 years, I understand that Idaho Power is
currently charging the customer $2.51 monthly service charge and wants to increase the
service charge to $10.00, which is outrageus. I also understand Idaho Powert has submitted
a proposal to increase electricity rates by 19.9%, which effects the residents and small
business owners. Tell me why Idaho Power is asking for these increases, 1'm a single
mother and struggle with trying to pay my power bill as it is. Please don I t allow Idaho
Power to increase there rates or there will be more people living on the streets and
become a problem for society. If there is anything I can do to stop these rate increases
please let me know. Thank you Denice Desilet
