Dear Sirs
I was app~ed to hear of the large increase in
rates Idaho Power is asking for. I feel they need to
look at their frivolous and outlandish spending and
change their ways before asking to increase t~eir
customers ' rates , many of ,.,Thorn cannot afford the current
ra tes.
I have a relative that is a retiree of Idaho Power and
was told about tll e lavish weekend they were invited to
spend in Boise with all expenses paid. This included motel
room , baRquet , other meals and entertainment , whatever
they wanted to do such as golf or whatever. This was a
full weekend of fun on Idaho PO\.,Ter. It included current
employees and their families and retirees. This was
summer before last but I believe this probably happens
every year and would amount to a tremendous amount of
spending. I feel this is very unnecessary and the millions
I am sure that is spent could help decrease everyone
bi lls rather than increase th em. I know of no other
company that treats their employees and former employees so
well and lavishly and feel it should stop or be curtailed.
I think these types of things need to be c 1ecked into
before an increase in rates is granted them.
Sincerely,
Anonymous

Dear Sir or Madam:
This letter is in regards to the proposed rate increase by Idaho Power. As a customer of Idaho Power I
realize their need to tum a profit to continue to stay in business. However, their basis for requesting
this increase is said to be money invested into the power system. Doesn't it make sense that this
money invested would bring in more customers and thus a greater base for revenue? I think it unfair
for the public to pay this back! Would any other business be allowed to raise their rates to build a new
store? I say no the public would take their money elsewhere. So why are we destined to just let them
raise rates to such great levels, in an effort to increase their bottom line when the economy is so poor
right now. With the unemployment rate at the level it is at and all other costs so high I implore you to
stop this insanity! Please do not let this rate increase take effect. There are so many people right now
just barely hanging on, and this increase would send many over the edge!
Thank you for your time in this. I look forward to hearing your ruling, and as I said please help stop
this. This is not the time to be helping big corporations make higher profits to look good to their
investors by letting the consumer who is having such a difficult time already cany the burden.
Sincerely,
------

Sirs:
We wish to express our opposition to the proposed increase ofthe base rate for
Electrical Power costs.
It appears to us that the request is out of line. For a public utility to ask for a rate
increase to cover an incurred cost to service new customers is ridicules. In the real world
if an operation has an increase in customer base, it would be an increase in revenue.
Which would mean an increase in revenue.
We have been very passive consumers of our power resources, but at some point
there has to be an accounting for the fact ldaCorp is reselling Idaho natural resources to
the people of Idaho who own the resource. They further have the option to auction off our
power to the highest bidder.
We hope you as appointed persons to safe guard our interests will listen.
